MESSAGE OF GOODWILL

I cannot be with you in person, but my spirit is with you, as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our "novel" Government Secondary Technical School, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

I am particularly pleased that the Ex-Pupils continue to positively help and support the school especially those enduring hardship in an effort to improve their school lives.  An effort like this is an inspiration to me and gives hope to many others.

Our monument must be still greater to ensure that GSTS, Sierra Leone and the world that our children inherit is one in which Unity, Freedom and Justice thrives.  The Ex-Pupils Association's activities will help us to achieve that end.

I wish you well and send you my very best wishes today (21 January 2007) from Britain.

MILLENNIUM FUND - APPEAL

The main aim of the fund is to provide financial security to students of all academic ability, especially those for whom financial circumstances could cause difficulties (particularly those evidently affected by war).

Your Help Makes All The Difference

In the last information sheet we asked for a voluntary contribution to help our beloved alma mater to continue to provide a good quality education in the face of the well-known difficulties.

We have been very grateful to those who have shown a genuine interest and for the positive recognition of the needs of our School and Institute.

As an alumnus I am sure, like me, you value those happy school days, education, which helped to prepare us for the world of work and opportunities. The need now is for us to give something back to our School and Institute. This can be contributing to much-needed funds to help current pupils and students or otherwise.

You could volunteer to act as a 'mentor' for present pupils of The Secondary Technical School and present students of The Technical Institute, offering practical advice and information based on your own career and employment experiences. If you would like to find out more about this service, or volunteer yourself, please contact Ronald Andrew Lisk-Carew, (Email: sectecall@hotmail.com) or look at our website at: http://www.inc.com/users/SecTecAll.html and http://home.att.net/~sectec/

If you would like to be included in our directory of alumni email directory, please let us know by email to sectecall@hotmail.com giving your name, address, and Email address.

All donations however large or small would be most gratefully received. The hope is that people from all sectors of our Sierra Leonean community worldwide will wish to be identified with this imaginative project. Please send your donation to:

You Can Make a Difference

It has been suggested by ex-pupils that consideration should be given to setting up a Millennium 2000 Fund as an appropriate way of making a difference, of helping to improve children's education and assist admirable Teachers who are working tremendously hard to educate current pupils of our alma mater in the new millennium.

The Secondary Technical School Alliance (Incorporating Ex-pupils and Staff of The Secondary Technical School and Ex-Students and Staff of The Technical Institute) have agreed to set up this fund to try to raise sufficient money in order to provide much needed Scholarship Awards; assist larger projects to effectively assist current pupils of our affectionate alma mater and to beneficially impact upon Sierra Leone in the process. The big challenge is to continue to be united in our desire to help in the improvement on previous best.

All donations however large or small would be most gratefully received. The hope is that people from all sectors of our Sierra Leonean community worldwide will wish to be identified with this imaginative project. Please send your donation to:
